The Corporate Relay is a great opportunity to encourage a life of fitness and health amongst your employees, corporate engagement within the community, and of course some healthy competition amongst fellow businesses and teams.

Get your team of 8 – whether co-workers, friends or family – together for the Subaru of Charlottetown Corporate/Team Relay. Your team will run the Full Marathon route, from start to finish, in 8 separate legs. Don’t forget… the team that finishes first will also receive a finishers medal and engraved trophy for bragging rights!

The PEI Marathon is excited to once again be partnering with the Canadian Mental Health Association – PEI (CMHA-PEI) to raise funds for mental health programs on PEI.
 
Race Roster has many tools that your team can use to help you raise money to support CMHA-PEI, including customizable email templates and social media posts. All funds raised for CMHA-PEI remain on PEI to support mental health programs and initiatives locally.

Each of your team members will receive:

Please note:

  • Changes to the 8 legs are made for the safety of all participants and also provide better parking for the teams.
  • The first leg runner and last leg runner must ensure they have the proper bib on with the timing chip.
  • Team members can join the last leg runner at the corner of Kent Street to cross the finish line together.
  • Buses are available to transport the 1st member of your team. Buses leave from the Confederation Centre of the Arts, Queen Street entrance at 7:00am on Sunday, October 14th.
  • Teams are responsible for transportation for all other team members.

Course Overview:

Teams of 4 to 8 people (from your office or friends or family) will work together to complete a marathon by running or walking the various legs of the relay course. Each of the 8 legs will vary in length from 2.8Km up to 6.9Km. Team members can choose the one that works best for them. All changeover locations of the Corporate Relay are clearly marked along the marathon Route. The route is open until 2:00pm to finish the event.

Detailed Route Information:

Leg 1 –  5.5K

  • Make sure the person running Leg 1 has the proper bib on with the timing chip attached.
  • Start – Brackley Beach Complex, National Park PEI (4012 Brackley Point Rd)
  • Finish – Sit of the Stanhope Beach Resort (3445 Bayshore Rd)
  • Getting to the start line
    • 1. Complimentary transportation is provided for the person running the first leg of the Corporate Relay from the Queen St entrance of the Confederation Centre of the Arts (on the corner of Queen and Grafton St. in Charlottetown). Note – there will be one bus designated to leave any of your belongings on. These will be transported back to the Murphy Centre. Please mark your bag with the baggage tag provided on the bottom of your bib (you will need your bib to retrieve your bag at the finish). The shuttle leaves at 7:00am Sharp!
    • 2. Driving to the Start line – take Brackeley Point Road north to PEI National Park. (click here to see a map to the start line from Charlottetown)
  • Parking – please park at the Brackley Beach Complex (4012 Brackley Point Rd). The start line is on the Gulf shore parkway.
  • Road Closures – Note that the Gulf Shore Parkway between Brackley Beach Complex and the Bayshore Road turn off will be closed from 7:30am to approximately 10:00am

Leg 2 – 6.8K

  • Start – Site of the Stanhope Beach Resort (3445 Bayshore Rd)
  • Finish – Dalvay Entrance to PEI National Park (Intersection of Eastern Rd and Gulf Shore Parkway)
  • Getting to Start of Leg 2 –
    • 1.  From Brackley Beach Complex – Head south towards Charlottetown on Brackley Point Rd (Rte 15) and turn left on the Black River Rd (Rte 6). Turn left on to Cass’s Rd to stay on Rte 6. Make a slight left in Covehead to stay on Rte 6. Follow Rte 6 to Stanhope and turn left on to the Bayshore Rd (Rte 25). The relay point is approximately 3.5km down the road on the left.     • 2. From Charlottetown – Take St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway (Rte 2) and turn left on to York Rd (Rte 25) to York/Stanhope, after 13.7km take a slight left on to Bayshore road, and the relay point is approximately 3.5km down the rd.     • Please watch for runners along the Bayshore Rd!
  • Parking – There is parking at the site of the Stanhope Beach Resort (3445 Bayshore Rd).

Leg 3 – 6.9K

  • Start – Dalvay Entrance to PEI National Park (intersection of Eastern Rd and Gulf Shore Parkway.
  • Finish – Intersection of Rte 6 and Millcove Rd (Rte 229).
  • Getting to Start of Leg 3
    • 1. From start of Leg 2 – Head south on Bayshore Rd, and turn left on to Stanhope lane. Follow Stanhope lane and turn left on to Gulf Shore Parkway. Take the Gulf Shore Parkway to the Dalvey Entrance of the National Park. Please be careful making the left turn from Bayshore Rd to Stanhope lane as there will be runners on the road.(click here to see a map from start of leg 2 to start of leg 3)
    • 2. From Charlottetown – Take St. Peters Rd/ Veterans Memorial Highway (Rte 2) east toward Souris. Turn left on to Rte 6 and follow to the intersection of Eastern Rd and Gulf Shore Parkway (approx. 10km, click here to see a map from Charlottetown to the start of Leg 3)
  • Parking – please park along the Gulf Shore Parkway
  • No parking on Eastern Rd

Leg 4 – 5.7K

  • Start – Intersection of Rte 6 and Millcove Rd (Rte 229) in Millcove
  • Finish – Intersection of Confederation Trail and Suffolk Rd
  • Getting to Start of Leg 4
    • 1. From Start of Leg 3 – Follow Rte 6 to the intersection of Rte 6 and Mill Cove Rd. (6.9km, click here to see a map from start of leg 3 to start of leg 4). Please be cautious of runners along the route. 
    • 2. From Charlottetown – Take St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway to Dunstaffnage and turn left on Rte 6, Relay point is approx. 2.9km up the road. (click here to see a map from Charlottetown to the start of leg 4)

 

Leg 5 – 3.8K

  • Start – Intersection of Confederation Trail and Suffolk Rd
  • Finish – Intersection of Confederation Trail and York Rd (Rte 25)
  • Getting to the Start of Leg 5 –
    • 1. From start of Leg 4 – Follow Rte 6 to St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway (Rte 2), and turn right. Follow Rte 2 for 3.5 km, and turn right on to Suffolk Rd (rte 222). Trail intersection is 1km up the road. (click here to see a map from leg 4 to leg 5)
    • 2. From Charlottetown – Take St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway (Rte 2) east toward Souris, and turn left on Suffolk Rd/Rte 222 toward Suffolk. Intersection with trail is approx. 1km up the road. (Click here to see a map to leg 5 from Charlottetown)

 

Leg 6 – 2.8K

  • Start – Intersection of Confederation Trail and York Rd (Rte 25)
  • Finish – Intersection of Confederation Trail and Union Rd (Rte 221)
  • Getting to the Start of Leg 6 –
    • 1. From start of leg 5 – Head south on Suffolk Rd to St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway. Turn right, and follow highway for 3.4km and turn right on the York Rd (Rte 25). Follow York Rd for 3km to the trail intersection. (click here to see map from start of leg 5 to start of leg 6)
    • 2. From Charlottetown Take St. Peters Rd/Veterans Memorial Highway east toward Souris, and turn left on to the York Rd (Rte 25). Trail intersection is 3km up the road. (click here to see a map to the start of leg 6 from Charlottetown)

 

Leg 7 – 5.7K

  • Start – Intersection of Confederation Trail and Union Rd (Rte 221)
  • Finish – Intersection of Malpeque Rd and John Yeo Dr (across from entrance to Bed, Bath and Beyond)
  • Getting to the Start of Leg 7 –
    • 1. From Start of Leg 6 – Take York Rd (rte 25) North to Hardy Mill Rd (Rte 220) and turn left. Follow Hardy Mill Rd to Union Rd (Rte 221) and turn left on to Union Rd. Trail intersection is 2.3km from Hardy Mill Rd. (click here to see a map from start of leg 6 to the start of leg 7)
    • 2. From Charlottetown – Take Brackley Point Rd (Rte 15) North to Intersection of Union Rd (Rte 221) and turn right on to Union Rd, Trail intersection is 2.7km from Brackley Point Rd.   • Parking – please park in the parking lot beside the trail
  • Please do not block the Trail entrance!

Leg 8 – 5.1K

  • Start – Intersection of Malpeque Rd and John Yeo Dr.
  • Finish – End of Great George St and Province House.
  • Getting to Start of Leg 8 –
    • 1. From start of Leg 7 – Head south on Union Rd (Rte 221) to Brackley Point Rd (Rte 15) and turn left on to Brackley Point Rd (Please be cautious of runners along Brackley Point Rd). Follow Brackley Point Rd to Charlottetown Bypass and turn right on to Bypass. Follow Charlottetown Bypass to Malpeque Rd, and turn right on to Malpeque Rd (please use caution on Malpeque Rd as there will be runners along the side of the road).     • 2. From Charlottetown – Take University Ave north until it turns into Malpeque Rd. Continue on Malpeque Rd to intersection of John Yeo Dr and Malpeque Rd. (Traffic lights by Reliable Motors and Bed Bath and Beyond)
  • Parking – Please park in the Sears parking lot.
  • Road Closures – Sherwood Road between Brackley Point Rd and Malpeque Rd will be closed to all traffic. Also, University Avenue below Kirkwood Dr will also be closed. Please use Queen St to get to the finish line from the last relay point.
  • Finish line Parking – the Queen St and Pownal St Parkades will be open for parking on October 14 and are free, we encourage you to park here.
